You can install iMIS Analytics in a two-tier or single-tier configuration. See Basic concepts for your IT staff to determine which configuration is best for your implementation of Analytics.
Before you begin
■ Make sure that the Analytics host, iMIS host, and iMIS application server all meet the Analytics system requirements.
■ Note the SQL connection information for the iMIS database on the iMIS host, and for the SQL environment on Analytics host, if you are installing a two-tier configuration.
■ Make sure your iMIS product license keys include the key for Analytics.
Installation scenarios
Installing Analytics requires extra steps if you are upgrading iMIS and/or Analytics:
|
Scenario |
Installation path |
|
Neither iMIS nor Analytics has been installed in your organization before, so you are installing both products at the same time. |
Perform a standard installation of iMIS, choosing a Custom installation and selecting the optional component iMIS Analytics. |
|
Analytics has never been installed before, but you currently have iMIS 15.1.3 or higher installed. You are therefore installing Analytics and upgrading iMIS. |
Perform these tasks in the order listed: □
Perform a standard upgrade of iMIS,
choosing a Complete installation. □ Verify that iMIS is working properly. □ Install Analytics from Add/Remove Programs (see below). □ Run the package (see Manually running the Update iAnalytics package) to populate the new analysis database installed by this latest release of Analytics. |
|
You have both Analytics 1.0 and iMIS 15.1.3 or higher installed. You are therefore upgrading both products. Caution: You must do so in two separate passes. |
Perform these tasks in the order listed: □ Upgrade the SQL Server environment on your Analytics host as needed. □ Ensure that the Analytics host meets all requirements. □
Perform a standard upgrade of iMIS,
choosing a Complete installation. □ Verify that iMIS is working properly. □ Install Analytics from Add/Remove Programs (see below). □ Migrate your data warehouse (see Migrating the Analytics 1.0 data warehouse) to the newly installed one. □ Run the package (see Manually running the Update iAnalytics package) to populate the new analysis database. □ Verify that Analytics is working properly. □ Delete the old data warehouse and analysis database from your SQL Server environment. Only the new iMIS_Analytics data warehouse and iAnalytics analysis database should remain. |
To configure SQL Server 2012 services for Analytics
If you are using a separate host machine for Analytics, you need to set all of the SQL Server 2012 services to log on with the Local System account.
1. After you install SQL Server 2012, open Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
2. Set Log On > Log on As to use the Local System account on each of the SQL Server services:
□ SQL Server
□ SQL Agent
□ Analysis Service
□ Integration Services
3. Restart all of the services.
To install Analytics from Add/Remove Programs
Caution! Perform this procedure only if your scenario above directs you to do so.
1. Modify the existing iMIS installation by using Add or Remove Programs.
□ From the application server's desktop, choose Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
The Add or Remove Programs window appears.
□ From the list of Currently installed programs and updates, select iMIS and click Change/Remove.
The welcome page of the iMIS - InstallShield Wizard appears.
□ Select Modify and click Next.
The Select Features page appears.
□ Important! Every checkbox that is currently selected should remain selected to prevent the removal of existing iMIS components.
Caution! If an already-installed component is selected on this page, the wizard should maintain installation of that component in subsequent steps. Ensure that every checkbox remains checked.
□ In the Optional Components section, select the iMIS Analytics checkbox and click Next.
The iMIS Analytics page appears.
2. Specify the connection information for the Analytics data warehouse and analysis database.
□ (optional) From the iMIS Analytics SQL Server instance drop-down list, select a different SQL Server instance in which you want to create your Analytics data warehouse and analysis database.
Caution! The database server host that contains the SQL Server instance you specify must also have a default instance of SQL Server installed on it, and that default instance must have Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) installed. If not, the Integration Services packages used by Analytics will not run successfully.
□ (optional) In the Data warehouse name field, replace the default name for the Analytics data warehouse with a new name of your choosing.
□ (optional) In the Analysis database name field, replace the default name for the Analytics analysis database with a new name of your choosing.
3. Click Next.
The Specify iMIS configuration page appears, but it is blank because you cannot change any values associated with the current iMIS installation.
4. Click Next.
The Review modify settings page appears.
5. Ensure that the installation settings are accurate and click Next.
The wizard displays setup status as it copies files and configures Analytics, and then the Maintenance Complete page appears.
6. Review all messages that are displayed on the completion page and take appropriate actions as needed.
7. Click Finish.
